Understated Weekend Elegance: “Lancôme”-inspired Caviar Rose Manicure
—
Charcoal is the New Black.
Well, maybe just for me. Have been obsessing over a FABULOUS nail polish color, Lancôme’s Caviar Noir, a glossy dark lead-grey that’s borderline black. It’s a bit of a ‘Fall shade’, but it’s so chic who cares?
Unlike Lovered from the same Vernis in Love range, Caviar Noir is not a one-coat polish that you apply on the move. You will need 2-3 coats for completely even, opaque coverage. You also need to give it a slightly longer time to dry. If that’s not a problem for you, it does give a beautiful lacqered finish.
To cut the “grunge” a bit, I pulled out my metal decals, and picked a beautiful rose design that reminded me of Lancôme’s logo, and decided it would look wicked against the glossy charcoal background. The actual Lancôme rose has a short stem and 2 leaves but my metal decal doesn’t, so here’s a link where you can get metal decals (#1) that are a better match than what I’ve got.
You can use any water-based glue to stick them on although I prefer repositionable glue for convenience and super-glue (or nail glue) for lasting power.
When you’re done, just apply 2 thick coats of topcoat so there are no sharp edges sticking out, and the decals don’t get ripped or rubbed loose.
Important tip: Just remember to pre-curve your metal decals around the side of a pen or any hard, curved object so they will lay flush against your nail surface and not catch on things.
